The “Import and Export” chapter covers everything you need to know about transferring data to and from itemis SECURE. Understanding the importance of integrating existing models, itemis SECURE offers multiple methods to import data from various formats and supports a wide range of output formats for exporting data.
In general, itemis SECURE uses three high-level concepts to transfer/exchange data:
1. Importing and Exporting an itemis SECURE solution.
2. Exchanging model data using the standardized XSAM format.
3. Converting data to and from itemis SECURE models using a Converter Service that is tailored to the specific source or target format.
For all these data exchange concepts, itemis SECURE provides several applicable actions depending on the context and, in the case of the last group, the settings.
The image below provides an overview of the three ways to open the Import/Export menu. You can access it through the menu bar (1), by right-clicking on a node or model in the project explorer (2), or by right-clicking directly in the editor window (3). The specific methods for importing and exporting data will be explained in more detail in the following steps.
Please note that specific menu entries in the Import/Export menu will only appear if an itemis SECURE model or its content is in focus, meaning the cursor is inside a Security Analysis chunk.
